Creating a project

  1. Click + New Project (top right of Home).
  2. Answer “What are you writing?” Two cards: Manuscript (novels, fan fiction, stories, essays, blogs, journals) and Screenplay (screenplays, teleplays, stage plays, podcasts). Or, under the OR divider, Import draft to start from an existing file. The choice sets your editor type, so pick the one that matches the work.
  3. Name the project. “You can rename it anytime.” The poster preview updates as you type.
  4. Customize the poster (optional). Three styles: Penguin (a classic paperback), Monogram (a large initial on a solid color), and a lined manuscript-paper look. Seven colors. Or upload your own image. You can edit the title and byline directly on the poster.
  5. Create project. It opens on the Draft, ready.

The free plan limit

The free plan includes 5 projects. When all 5 are in use, creating a sixth shows “You’ve reached your project limit” with two ways out: remove a project, or View plans. Recovering a project from Trash still works at the cap.
